@ The Moment

09.17.01

Note: Due to the start of school, some questions have been removed this time around and new ones have been added*

Songs I always listen to on the radio:
Love of My Life (Brian McKnight); Last Beautiful Girl (matchbox twenty); Yellow (Coldplay)—yes still!

Songs I'm tired of on the radio:
(Oops) Hit ‘Em Up Style (Blu Cantrell)—I hate that song!

Song’s Lyrics:
"Should’ve been there every time you called
Should’ve given you everything, given you my all.
I was just selfish, thinking about myself.
Should’ve given the best of me to no body else.
‘Cause there’s no living without you
And it feels like I’m losing my mind.

Baby, I can’t sleep at night without you right by my side.
My pride always gets in the way.
I lied, I should have begged you to stay.
It may take ‘til forever is through to get over you.

Should’ve made you happy, should’ve been strong
Should’ve made you believe you were right were you belonged.
Don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone
Don’t tell me it’s too late to right this wrong.
‘Cause there’s not living without you
And it feels like I’m losing my mind…

Something, something ain’t right.
Girl, the sun doesn’t shine.
Won’t you come back into my life
Girl, can we try again…" Get Over You (Brian McKnight)

CD I've listened to way too much in the past week:
Just got the new Brian McKnight "Superhero." It’s very good.

CD I'm missing:
All That You Can't Leave Behind (U2)

Blessid Union of Souls (Blessid Union of Souls)

Movie I saw in the theaters
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back—okay, it was funny. But, I guess I just expected a LOT of laughs. So I feel a lil’ bit disappointed. Believe me thought, it was still good entertainment.

Movie I saw on Video:
We don’t have DVD at our apartment, but we watched Office Space the first week we were here.

Movie I saw on television:

The Sixth Sense was on today. I watched the last half to My Blue Heaven the other day (now that one is GREAT).

Movie I want to see:
Joyride…gotta love Steve Zahn

Celeb crush of the moment:
Benjamin Bratt…yummy. Been watching Law & Order lately. What a cutie!

Chicago White Sox just…
Resumed their play

Hot White Sox:
Keith Foulke (P) age 29; John Garland (P) age 21; Kip Wells (P) age 23 (I seriously doubt that this will ever change, haha)

Me being a smartass:

On the topic of having a baby and it’s bed in the parent’s bedroom—"Why not, that’s where you made it."

Quote of the week by one of my teachers:

"If you haven’t been paying attention to the news this past week, I honestly can say you probably don’t want to be a real journalist."—Article Writing teacher.

Bowling this past week:

Has been great. On Wednesday I shot 226-201-200 (627). Thursday (scratch—mostly men) I shot 269-185-206 (660). I’m high average on my team for both leagues.

What I miss the most in Chicago

A winning sports team. The Bears aren’t looking too promising.

Chicago fuss:
In Bridgeview, and then over by Chicago Ridge, there was rioting and verbal assaulting of Arab-Americans in a backlash of the recent terrorist attacks. Truly sad, if you ask me.

Book I last read:
Associated Press Stylebook…haha, I had to in going over a list of misused and misunderstood words for my Broadcast Journalism class.

Book I'm presently reading:
I need to do some assigned reading in my Communications book for my Media Studies class…

Book I'm planning to read next:
Ordinary People (Judith Guest) …another one for class

News story that made me laugh:
Nothing has been too entertaining in the past week for news. Maybe that rumors are going around about Nostradamus predicting the third world war and the end of the war with the events of last week. That and the rumor that Dick Cheney was dead, that was why no one saw him on television. People really need to get out more often and see the world and how it is. Cynicism is the best medicine.

Family issue that made me laugh:
My father declared last night that I am no longer the favorite child because it appeared as if I had broken his computer. I argued that I thought I had won the honor since Jason "knocked up his girlfriend." Yes, I actually said that phrase.

Last time I saw my brother:
Yesterday for family luncheon with the Aunt and Cousin to celebrate Jason’s birthday. Then again at night after his bowling league and before I headed back up to school.

Event coming up:
The college bowling season is kicking off in Milwaukee Oct 6-7. It’ll be interesting to watch and not be actually participating.

Last piece of mail I received:
The apartment’s cable bill…it’s in my name.

Piece of mail I sent:
The payment for the cable bill—I’m on top of this, this year.

Latest big purchase:
Been shopping for Gina’s 21st birthday presents, which I’ve effectively left half of it at home and she’s coming up this weekend for it.

Work is…
Non-existent in the world of corn. I’ve applied to five different places, to have only one offer it sucks, so I had to turn it down.

Backstreet Boy:
What the hell was Kevin thinking on MTV??? Geez…I have nothing else to say now, I’m speechless. How do you think it made me feel to have people tell me Howie looked hotter than Kevin?

BSB song:
Drowning…oh God! I really enjoy this song!

Fanfic I'm way too into:
Past, Present and Future (Leigh) third installment in the Tess & Kevin story. Between the Lines (Carrie at the Story Cart); Not to mention everything at Chris' site "Is Somebody a Fairy." I really need to find me some new stories…

Fanfic story I need to work on:
I’ve really been chugging away at Chicago Melodies…I honestly hope to finish it in a month. Honestly, folks.

Fanfic idea I have:
I think I’m all fanficed out.

True to life storytelling:
My life has been kinda boring lately L The best I can offer up is that last Saturday I was locked out of my apartment and had to go to my neighbor’s place to use the phone, and effectively made three new guy friends and hung out with the one for like four hours that night because he was a cutie…it kinda reminds me of Nicole getting locked from her room and staying up with Kevin.

A fourth addition to Nic/Kev saga…
Listening to the new Brian McKnight CD, I listened to the lyrics to two of the songs and seriously debated them as titles to a fourth addition.

*~*~*

08.09.01
Songs I always listen to on the radio:
Never Let You Down (The Verve Pipe); Superman (Five for Fighting)

Songs I'm tired of on the radio:
All For You AND Someone to Call My Own (Janet Jackson)

Song Lyric:
It's an entire song...
click here to read lyrics to Extra Ordinary (Better Than Ezra)

CD I've listened to way too much in the past week:
Blessid Union of Souls--all three of their CDs are in rotation (hmm, so fitting that last time I said I was missing them...)

CD I'm missing:
Parachutes (Coldplay) I only listen to it at night, but it's a great CD.
All That You Can't Leave Behind (U2)

CD helping me to go to sleep:
Parachutes (Coldplay)

Song I caught my dad singing along to:
He's been playing his guitar a lot the past two weeks while I'm online here in the same room. He says, "well it's about time for a sad song now..." So I started singing "Sad Songs" by Elton John. Totally pissed him off because he's trying to play some depressing Bob Seger song or something.

Movie I saw in the theaters
America's Sweethearts. Very, very, very funny!! I loved everyone in it!!! Hank Azaria especially...that man is great!

American Pie 2. Also very funny...I love Stifler!
The Mummy Returns at the cheapy theaters. A very entertaining movie! Evolution at the cheapy theaters. My parents are delusional, I really enjoyed it!

Movie I saw on DVD:
I bought Saving Silverman two weeks ago on DVD. Sat down and watched about half an hour of it before dinner. Then Monday...Dad takes the player in to be serviced for shading problems. I told him they should have given us a DVD rental, haha.

Movie I want to see:
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back...whenever that's due in theaters

TV I last watched with my brother (age 26):
He showed me just yesterday the highlights from the Cubs game. The ninth inning was a pure sick of suckdom by the other team.

Celeb crush of the moment:
Tony Clark of Blessid Union of Souls...no joke, the man is soooo cute. Complete with a great smile, sweet attitude and a lil' southern accent (my favorite type).

this is him!

Chicago White Sox just…
Won last night. Only 7 games from first!! I still got faith in 'dem boys!

Hot White Sox:
Keith Foulke (P) age 29; John Garland (P) age 21; Kip Wells (P) age 23 (I seriously doubt that this will ever change, haha)

What I miss the most in Chicago:
Going to Pizzeria Unos or Ed Debevic's late at night.
I also am missing Second City; we haven't gone since Ang's bday in March.

New Chicago fuss:
Mongo (known outside from Chicago Bears fans as Steve McMichael) sang 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' as do guests do during all seventh inning stretches at Cubs games. There was a bad call made at the plate during the sixth inning. Well, come Mongo's singing debut, he first said, "Hey, Cubs fans, don't worry. Mongo's gonna have a lil' chat with that homeplate umpire!" Hilarious!

Book I last read:
The Straight Dop (Cecil B. Adams) Wow! I'm just finished! Finally!

Book I'm presently reading:
I still have to finish Hollywood Urban Legends (Richard Roepper).

Book I'm planning to read next:
Who knows?

News story that made me laugh:
Just that Mongo thing....still funny to see it on the night news as a recap.

Family issue that made me laugh:
Had dinner with brother's girlfriend and my mom. The girlfriend pointed out that she tells Jason all the time she doesn't wanna end up like our parents. So, my mom asks what that's supposed to mean. She just explained it quite nicely and my mom's like, "aren't you supposed to be sucking up to me?" And the girl says back, "I'm sorry, even if I wanted to, I just can't."

Last time I saw my brother:
Just before he left for work today. The man was real nice and did the dishes for me. So I went to give him a hug. I had just gotten home from work and was alllllll sweaty. Made him let me hug him, then grabbed his arm and said, "Don't worry, the front's not sweaty. It's back here that I am," and rubbed it at the wet part of my shirt. I'm so cruel.

Event coming up:
SCHOOL!!! Moving in on the 17th, classes start the 27th, also my mom's birthday.
Bare Naked Ladies is Aug 25th!! YAHOO!

Piece of real mail I received:
A chain letter from CarriAnn with a lottery ticket in it, along with a thank you card from her graduation. Also, a thank you card from Julie's mom for going to her surprise birthday party.

Piece of mail I sent:
Hmm, it's been a lil' while.

Latest big purchase:
A pots and pans set for the apartment at school.

Work is…
OVER!!! HALLELUJAH!!! Finally, it's over, over, over.

Backstreet Boy:
Oh God...yesterday, we were commiserating over old pictures again...loving old Kevin. Where are you? Come back!

BSB song:
I'll Never Break Your Heart is my ultimate fav bsb song. But on My Napster, I've been trying to find the mp3 of the Boys doing it on the Today Show when they did it like an R&B Doo Wop group.

Fanfic I'm way too into:
Fire & Ice (DJ on felfic.com), very intriguing story about a woman who recounts her affair with Kevin. Past, Present and Future (Leigh) third installment in the Tess & Kevin story. Between the Lines (Carrie at the Story Cart); Not to mention everything at Chris' site "Is Somebody a Fairy." Also, Signal to Noise (Bobbi) at www.walkingintheclouds.com

Fanfic story I need to work on:
Any of them...I'm stuck!

Fanfic idea I have:
Well, Anna finally faced the devil...and has shared her innocence with Kevin. God only knows what will happen next...Let's see how simple it is for Kevin to meet the extended family?

True to life storytelling:
Nothing new, really...

A fourth addition to Nic/Kev saga…
How about - and I seriously thought about this - A first person account of Nicole when she first started for the Boys? My only problem would be how it would end? Because Saved the Best For Last would obviously be the pick-up. Just doesn't make sense yet in my mind.

07.13.01
Songs I always listen to on the radio:
When It’s Over (Sugar Ray); Bathwater (No Doubt); Mad Season (Matchbox Twenty); More Than That (BSB)

Songs I’m tired of on the radio:
Hanging By a Moment (Lifehouse)

Song Lyric:
"Why do all the good girls always want the bad boys?"—Bathwater (No Doubt)
"She said ‘you don’t look like my type—but I guess you’ll do’."—Third Rate Romance (Amazing Rhythm Aces)

CD I’ve listened to way too much in the past week:
Billy Joel Greatest Hits Volume I & II

CD I’m missing:
Blessid Union of Souls—any of their three…I heard them this morning on the MIX playing live in the studio…they are soooo cool!

CD helping me to go to sleep:
Back At One (Brian McKnight)

Song I caught my dad singing along to:
I recently burned a CD with the song Third Rate Romance (Amazing Rhythm Aces) on it. It’s kind of a hillbilly, country sounding song, but I really like it. Check out the lyrics some time. It’s his song off the computer, so every time it’s playing, he sings along to it.

Movie I saw in the theaters
The Fast and the Furious!!! Ooh La La! Vin Diesel AND Paul Walker sharing screen time…
Scary Movie—very funny!!

Movie I saw on DVD:
Finally finished Cutting Edge, then checked out the special, extended parts of Dogma

Movie I want to see:
Still wanna see Evolution. Rat Race looks good…
And I wanna see Cats & Dogs—No joke.

TV I last watched with my brother (age 26):
We watched quite a lot in the past two days. Law & Order (I got him hooked on that); a Weird Science re-run; Cubs-Sox game.

Celeb crush of the moment:
Vin Diesel!! Hunk-o-rama!

Chicago White Sox just…
Lost :( 5-1 and to the Cubs no less

Hot White Sox:
Keith Foulke (P) age 29; John Garland (P) age 21
new! Kip Wells (P) age 23—this will sound so funny, but with his hat on while he’s at the mound he looks like he’s about thirty-five (he’s got this rubber-face look), but then when he was batting yesterday he looked like he was twelve in little league…but then he took off his hat in the dugout and he has such nice spiky, dark blonde hair and he looked cute. I’m still trying to figure out how that all worked out, but I’m serious.

What I miss the most in Chicago:
A winning Bulls team. My brother pointed out yesterday that the Bulls won 15 games last year. I said "Remember when they didn’t lose that many in a season?"

New Chicago fuss:
A Chicago Sun Times columnist wrote a story about how she was in Wrigleyville (Cubs park—Wrigley Field—area for those out of the know) and she was harassed by a few drunk, white men. Her being a black female, they called her Aunt Jemimah repeatedly. She wrote a column talking about it, then printed in another column how people responded to her. It seemed a lil’ out of hand with everything cracking down. But then again, this was the same woman who gave the commencement speech at my cousin’s graduation. She said that in getting your degree you now have your ‘don’t mess with me’ title…kinda strange.

Book I last read:
The Wanders

Book I’m presently reading:
The Straight Dope (Cecil B. Adams)—still working on it…a lil’ more than half way through it. It’s like 400 pages!

Book I’m planning to read next:
I still have to finish Hollywood Urban Legends (Richard Roepper). Then I’m going to go for More of the Straight Dope (Cecil B. Adams)…school starts too soon from now…that may be on hold.

News story that made me laugh:
nothing right now
Family issue that made me laugh:
My brother (25 going on 26—scary really) threw the Chicago Sun Times newspaper at me yesterday, making the whole thing fall apart. We then proceeded to crumple up the pages and throw them at each other. I grabbed a page and smeared in his face, marking ink all over his face. Then, I grabbed crumpled pieces and shoved them up the legs of his shorts…real funny. He picked up the pieces when we were done, folded them back into a suitable shape and put it into the bag from the Chicago Tribune, putting it out on the front porch for my parents. What a nutcrack!

Last time I saw my brother:
This morning he stopped in before heading out for the weekend in Wisconsin Dells.

Event coming up:
My Aunt’s birthday just passed, so we’ll probably get together with the family for that some time soon.
And Jason’s moving out soon :(

Piece of real mail I received:
It’s all been bills!

Piece of mail I sent:
Sent the rent check to Izah so she can pay Star Properties.

Latest big purchase:
HOLY SHIT! THIS IS IT! So, my parents helped with the downpayment and it’s in their name…but I’m paying the monthly payments and it’s for ME! My dream car! 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT…beautiful and black!

Work is…
Sucking…I wanna quit. Too bad I gotta worry about those car payments. Either way I’ve only got three weeks left.

Backstreet Boy:
Poor AJ…I feel for ya. In the back of my mind it’s still Kevin though. Even though I saw some picture of him without facial hair and the long hair in Teen People and he looked ghastly and scary…he’s still hot in my memory.

BSB song:
If You Stay…I still don’t get why they didn’t put that on the album

Fanfic I’m way too into:
Fire & Ice (DJ on felfic.com), very intriguing story about a woman who recounts her affair with Kevin. Past, Present and Future (Leigh) third installment in the Tess & Kevin story. Between the Lines (Carrie at the Story Cart)

Fanfic story I need to work on:
After All This… (Nick)—I finally got ideas, I just have yet to sit down to wanna write.

Fanfic idea I have:
Chicago Melodies…Anna goes to Ken-tuck-ay!—yeah I know, I didn’t have that happen yet…it’s been postponed. But she will make it there, don’t you worry. Anna will have to face a few internal issues she wasn’t even aware of until she attends a party with Kevin…evil grin.

True to life storytelling:
I got my car!!! Hehe. But, for real, I just finally realized a few things about myself and feelings on marriage and realized how close they are to how Nicole felt about things. I said last night, and I quote, "Why have the ceremony? Just throw a huge party with all your friends. I’m serious. I still wanna dress up, but no priest, no church. Maybe say a few sweet things about how much we love each other and are gonna spend the rest of lives together, but why have all the hoopla? The reception’s always much more fun anyways…"

A fourth addition to Nic/Kev saga…
For a split second yesterday, I considered it.

6.19.01
Songs I always listen to on the radio:
Hey Pretty (Poe); Stutter Remix (Joe w/ Mystikal); Get UR Freak On (Missy Elliot); Smooth (Santana feat/ Rob Thomas)

Songs I’m tired of on the radio:
Drops of Jupiter (Train); If You’re Gone (Matchbox Twenty)

Song Lyric:
"I won't be your winter. I won't be anyone's excuse to cry." –Your Winter (Sister Hazel)

CD I’ve listened to way too much in the past week:
Fortress (Sister Hazel)

CD I’m missing:
XVI--Live (Chicago)

CD helping me to go to sleep:
Parachutes (Coldplay)

Song I caught my dad singing along to:
He was bobbing his head to Everclear’s "AM Radio" the other night. Then he points out, "Hey, isn’t that a bit of ‘Mr. Big Stuff’?" Uh, yeah Dad.

Movie I saw in the theaters
Well, in Madison, me, Gina and Ang watched The Mexican and Traffic in our hotel room which the Comfort Inn declared "Boxoffice movies." So, I think that comes close enough.

Movie I saw on DVD:
Cutting Edge. Got it from Gina for my birthday. Toepick.

Movie I want to see:
Evolution. Although my parents said it wasn’t all that great.

TV I last watched with my brother (age 26):
He had me stop to watch the press conference on how Cicero town president Betty Loren-Maltese got arrested last Friday. Excellent! Corruption’s going down!

Celeb crush of the moment:
D.B Sweeney. I loved him after the first time I saw Cutting Edge…he’s still lovely to look at.

Chicago White Sox just…
Won last night! 5-3 against the Kansas City Royals

Hot White Sox:
Keith Foulke (P) age 29; John Garland (P) age 21

What I miss the most in Chicago:
Going down to Pizzeria Uno’s or Due’s at midnight to have some high-quality pizza!
A winning Chicago White Sox team! At least they’re hovering around .500 now.

New Chicago fuss:
Michael Jordan’s planning a comeback? Where do all these rumors come from?

Book I last read:
The Wanders

Book I’m presently reading:
The Straight Dope (Cecil B. Adams)

Book I’m planning to read next:
I still have to finish Hollywood Urban Legends (Richard Roepper). Then I’m going to go for More of the Straight Dope (Cecil B. Adams).

News story that made me laugh:
With the Betty Loren-Maltese story…they asked the FBI (at the press conference) where the accused were arrested. At the office or at home? They replied, "Oh, no, Loren-Maltese was arrested in her home in Indiana." The low down on this is as it is in most—if not all—cities. In order to be part of a governmental board, one must live in the city. She doesn’t even reside in the same state!

Family issue that made me laugh:
For Father’s Day, the family (me, brother and mother) got tickets to see Dennis Miller when he comes to Chicago because my father loves that man. We’re all going together though because we love him, too. I wrapped his ticket alone in an envelope, then put the envelope into a box that I then wrapped. As he’s opening the box he says "Oh, I know what this is." I ask what he thinks it is. He says, "Well, if it’s not it, then I’ll tell ya." Funny guy. So then he finally tells us he thinks it’s tickets for Arena Football and I look to Mom and say, "Wow, Dad, we can’t put anything past you." He opens up the envelope finally and glances at the ticket and is like, "See, I knew it." Pause. "Oh, wow Dennis Miller!" He was gushing with happiness…kinda funny to see him do that, but it was true. Pause. "I gotta go alone?" We laughed and told him that was part of his present: freedom.

Last time I saw my brother:
Today we went shopping for Father’s Day (yeah, I know a lil’ behind) for our Grandpa and his birthday (tomorrow). Had fun and was some quality time before he moves out.

Event coming up:
My friend Jason is getting married 6.22 and—can you believe it?—I’m invited. Haha, inside joke.
Coming Monday, going to see Dennis Miller at the Skyline Stage, Navy Pier

Piece of real mail I received:
Miss Sanday sent me a box chock full o’ presents for me! Lovely weather girl! I got a note pad for the fridge in the new apartment, liquid soap with the bottle declaring the word ‘bitch’ and magnets of half nekkid men! Wonderful!

Piece of mail I sent:
A small, short letter to Amy from Minnesota/Wisconsin fame. I bought her a sticker and mailed it along with the note.

Latest big purchase:
The air conditioning in my car was fixed last week for $100. Hit me hard in the wallet. Especially for someone saving for a down payment on a car.

Work is…
Busy! The heat finally came and the rain clouds went away! Now if only the stupid, bitchy people would stop harassing me on the phone! I can’t help it if the pool installer cancelled on these people! Geesh! Don’t yell at me! I’m honestly debating to quit retail for-ever!

Backstreet Boy:
I just wrote two whole chapters of Chicago Melodies like three days ago and another one last night. Plus, I’ve got plenty of ideas brewing for future chapters. Of course, that makes Kevin my favorite for sure!

All-time BSB song:
Get Another Boyfriend and I found a sound file of Kevin singing 10,000 Promises all by himself. The Boys were so nice to him that day.

Fanfic I’m way too into:
Keep of My Dreams (DJ on felfic.com)--the entire series is good, just have to get through the seedy sex scenes; The Rest of Your Life is Mine (Leigh on her own page—linked through felfic.com also); Between the Lines (Carrie at the Story Cart)

Fanfic story I need to work on:
After All This… (Nick)
Free Your Mind
(actually, I just need ideas from here on out, I’m blocked on these storylines)

Fanfic idea I have:
Chicago Melodies…Anna goes to Ken-tuck-ay!

True to life storytelling:
The Godiva chocolate scene…I got that idea from like two weeks ago when me, Ang and Gina went to Oakbrook Mall and I bought a small box of chocolates. Godiva is lovely! Me and Ang sat at a bench looking through the guide on what piece was what.

A fourth addition to Nic/Kev saga…
Chicago Melodies is the forefront of my mind right now.

5.31.01

Songs I always listen to on the radio:
Hanging By a Moment (Lifehouse); Yellow (Coldplay); Give it to Me (Jay-Z); Lady Marmalade (Mya, Pink, Lil’ Kim, Christina Aguilera, Missy Elliot); Dirty Pop (NSYNC); More Than That (BSB)

Songs I’m tired of on the radio:
Drive (Incubus); Ride Wit’ Me (Nelly); Nobody Wants to be Lonely (Ricky Martin/Christina Aguilera)

"I love who you are, love who you ain’t." So Fresh, So Clean (Outkast)

CD I’ve listened to way too much in the past week:
Black and Blue (Backstreet Boys)

CD I miss listening to:
XVI--Live (Chicago)

CD helping me to go to sleep:
Noting Hill Soundtrack

Song I caught my dad singing along to:
I Want it That Way (BSB). We were in the car the other night and I made him listen to the medley they did on all those tv shows back in November if I had to sit through his music.

Movie I saw in the theaters:
Shreck. I highly recommend it!
Save the Last Dance (cheap theaters). Cute guy, did you know he’s like thirty?

Movie I saw on DVD:
The Mummy. Way cool!

Movie I last watched with my brother (age 26):
Little Giants. And we were both reciting lines from it.

Celeb crush of the moment:
Devon Sawa. Brenden Fraser

Chicago White Sox just…
Had a rain delay tonight. They won Wednesday night.

Hot White Sox:
Keith Foulke (P) age 29; John Garland (P) age 21

What I miss the most in Chicago:
The championship Bulls and Michael Jordan. Ah, the memories.
The cows on parade. No joke.

New Chicago fuss:
"Suite Home Chicago" Fiberglass furniture. Supposed to be as cool and trendy as the cows. Never.
Art Institute’s Film Center relocated and opening. Renamed "Gene Siskel Film Center." Very respectful.

Birthday...
Just ten days til the big 2-1!

Book I last read:
The Wanders (Richard Price)--yeah, I know, I read a book. Can hardly believe it myself.

Book I’m presently reading:
Hollywood Urban Legends (Richard Roepper)

Book I’m planning to read next:
Memoirs of a Geisha (Arthur S. Golden)

News story that made me laugh:
Seven girls rode past New Trier HS topless as part of a senior prank. They were pulled over by a cop just down the block from the school. As a punishment, they were to serve a three-day suspension, issue a statement of apology and serve community service. One male sophomore noted, "I don’t see the big deal. No one really saw much."

Family issue that made me laugh:
My dad is constantly mistaken as other people when online because his name has other variations of online personalities, just add some numbers. He’s gotten IM’s from people speaking French this week. He got one today from an 11-year-old who is convinced he knows my dad. He starts off the IM telling my dad to check out this cool site with stupid stuff called stupid.com. Of course, my dad goes. Me and my mom called him Stupid about twenty times tonight. Plus, the kid actually argued with my dad that he knew him.
My dad responded: No you don’t.
Kid: Yes I do.
My dad responded: No you don’t.
Kid: Yes I do.
No joke. Brings about my idea for a T-shirt for him. "I’m not with stupid. I am stupid."

Last time I saw my brother:
Tuesday, he was home for about twenty minutes doing laundry before jetting off to his girlfriend’s house—where he practically lives nowadays. He’s moving out, by the way. Within the next three months. I get his room!

Piece of real mail I received:
Mar Mar sent me a chain letter about recipes. Before that it was a thank you card from her for throwing her a surprise b-day party back in March.

Piece of mail I sent:
A letter of appreciation for the journalism scholarship I won. Had to send one to the foundation’s secretary and to the communications department at school.

Latest big purchase:
A $60 computer desk. High roller, I know.

Work is…
Slow! Too much rain! Although it gives me time to read and chat with the co-workers. I just like gossiping with everyone about everyone who works there. Especially the stupid 16-year-old kid who got kicked out of high school. That kid is a real moron.

Backstreet Boy:
Even with the long hair, Kevin does and says stuff that I really like. Plus he’s the main character in more than half of my writing and fanfic reading. But overall, after the CBS special, I’m almost leaning towards AJ, his crazed-out antics and his wonderful voice. Definitely: Kevin

All-time BSB song:
Just Like a Child and Let’s Have a Party (live from either A Night Out with the BSB or Homecoming: Orlando)

Fanfic I’m way too into:
Keeper of Your Dreams (DJ on felfic.com)--the entire series is good, just have to get through the seedy sex scenes; The Rest of Your Life is Mine (Leigh on her own page—linked through felfic.com also)--I'd read the first one first. Leap of Faith; Between the Lines (Carrie at the Story Cart)

Fanfic story I need to work on:
After All This… (Nick)
Free Your Mind

Fanfic story I can't stop thinking about and working on:
Chicago Melodies (Kevin--Anna)

Fanfic idea I have:
Something with Brian and Nick. I’ll try to stray from the whole romance genre, even if I love it so much. Just some good ol’ Frick ‘n Frack fun.

True to life storytelling:
In ‘These Arms of Mine’ Nicole found out she was an aunt from Jason and Lynn being together so long. They got married after the birth. I wrote Lynn based on my brother’s real girlfriend. She’s now pregnant. They’re planning to get married.

A fourth addition to Nicole/Kevin saga…
Never say never, I suppose.

A place for the imagination to run amok...
